Title
An Example of Diversity Promotion and Role Models in TOSHIBA
Abstract
Toshiba promotes DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging), believing that it creates innovations connected to its management philosophy: "Committed to People, Committed to the Future." In this lecture, the speaker will present selected activities related to gender within our DEIB initiatives.
As a role model, the speaker will also share her career journey. She joined Toshiba from a completely different field, having studied physics, and became part of the Power Electronics Works Laboratory, where she faced some challenges. While working on railway automatic operation, converter development, and battery system development, she gained experience as a manager and, with the support of those around her, now she is responsible for bridging company-wide efforts related to battery storage systems.
Bio
Mami Mizutani received a bachelor's degree in physics at Japan Women's University in 1990 and a Ph.D. degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan, in 2020 respectively.
Mizutani is currently the Senior Fellow in Infrastructure Systems R&D Center, which is the Works Laboratory in TOSHIBA Corporation. She has been with the Works Laboratory since joining TOSHIBA, dedicating her career to the development of power electronics and battery systems.
